The lady’s wear and fashion today offer multiple choices regarding the colours, the shapes of the trousers, the design of the skirts, etc. The days of the dictates of a colour for the season, a certain and unique shape of trousers, without forgetting a certain shape and height of heel for the shoes are bygones. We are living the era, fashion wise, of the personification, the best you look as wearing your own selection of articles, the best it is. Still, there are tendencies, whatever the degree of awareness of every one of us.
For example, can anyone remember the busy New-Yorkers going to work walking around in sneakers only to switch for high heels at the office ? It looks mostly difficult today to wear so many bags just to avoid being seen with sneakers at work. Who can still bear today the agony to stand up on stilettos all day ? It is impossible to forget the time you twisted an ankle due to uncomfortable heels. Only a couple of years ago, wearing a skirt or dress was fully implying, especially at work, to wear heels. Everybody could not stop observing that these ladies were smiling and looking happy, while others in cute shoes and swollen feet were less relaxed and could not do the school run without looking in some kind of difficulties. The same can be observed while travelling. Either by plane or by train, there are long distances to be covered, and the facility to walk in sneakers outsmart any other kind of pair of shoes.
It took several hundred years for ladies to be liberated from the discomfort of impressive looking shoes but uncomfortable ones. It could even be compared with the freedom from the corset. A couple of years ago, a famous actress made the headlines of the fashion publications by wearing sneakers on the red carpet. To associate a dress with sneakers is no longer attracting comments. Still, anyone can wear any type of shoes according to circumstances and the purposes of the day. Then we are speaking of real freedom, and benefiting from a wide variety of options that were never met before ! So, have fun with fashion !
